Common Orthodontic Emergencies
Loose or Broken Brackets
If a bracket becomes loose or detached from the tooth, contact our office immediately. Avoid attempting to reattach it yourself. In the meantime, you can use orthodontic wax to prevent irritation and keep the bracket in place.
Poking or Irritating Wires
If a wire is poking or causing irritation to the inside of your mouth, try gently pushing it back into place using a cotton swab or pencil eraser. If you’re unable to resolve the issue, cover the end of the wire with orthodontic wax and contact us for further assistance.
Lost or Broken Retainer
If your retainer is lost or damaged, contact our office as soon as possible. It’s essential to continue wearing your retainer to prevent teeth from shifting. In the meantime, you can temporarily use your last retainer if it still fits comfortably.
Trauma or Injury
If you experience trauma to the mouth or face that affects your orthodontic appliances, seek medical attention immediately. Once you’ve addressed any medical concerns, contact us for further guidance on how to proceed with your orthodontic treatment.
